I remember the first time I picked up a skateboard.
Something so subltle could be used for an outlet of agnst or just to calm my nerves.
I worked hard for it, bought it with my own cash and decided to pursue what would soon become a passion/obsession.
Skateboarding does'nt owe me anything.
Skateboarding can be abused and taken advantage of, just to make a quick buck.
Skateboarding does'nt give a fuck who you are.
You can be that kid with the broken home, or the rich kid with his own skatepark.
You still have to earn its respect.
Something like this can never be mastered or achieved.
Skateboarding will break you to a point of giving up
Can also take you places you would'nt of dreamed.
I've seen alot of people make a living out of skateboarding.
It was never because they were great at it, they just had the heart for it.
Some kids dream of being the next Micheal Jordan.
As kids we always seem to try to exceed the bar of expectation
"Go for the gold"
Impress your friends, and they will like you more.
You can try to teach Baseball, Basketball, Football, Soccer, etc.
But you can only teach so much.
Once you know the basics, you just gotta roll with it.
Everyone drops the ball once in awhile.
How do you teach Skateboarding?
Skateboarding is such a individual choice that you can't really push it on anyone that does'nt want to skate.
You can only show someone how to ollie so many times
Until they finally get it or give up.
Or get broke off.
Everyone has choices.
Some of us just live with what we have.
Pushing something onto others can't be the right way to do it.
Skateboarding is not for everyone.
You can't give someone a brand new skateboard and a brand new skatepark
Then expect them to become the next Tony Hawk
Maybe I'm wrong.
That's just not how skateboarding works.
You have to have strive and compassion to do something so technical.
Fuck it.
I'm just glad I saw the gutter way of learning how to skateboard.
Rather being feed from a silver spoon.
Weeks will go by, and the zombies of the summit will have left the hills of West Virginia.
Only to return once a year.
Bringing with them the notion that everything will be like it was when they left it.
As for the rest of us
We have to wait
While concrete burns and freezes out through the year without a sound
We have to wait
Skateboarding caught on hold.
Just press fucking play already.
Don't be so serious about Skateboarding.
Just let everyone have fun.
Cheers.

Skateboarding is not like Tee-ball! Once you are hooked. It's a lifestyle!
Kids either want it. Or would rather just do it from a controller safely. Can't force em! Get it while the legs still work!!! Good post!
Thank you for the post
