WARMING UP

Let me kick off this shit and say it's been a hell of a good start to this summer already. Helped some homies @chieftony @jimisonesa build a mini ramp.....

We also had an amazing turn out at the Museum of Art for SKATE DAY. Which was held in honor of having @Pendledon exhibit inside of the museum that would run through out the summer. It was an early June 21st for us. So this year we brought all the ramps up to the museum to let all the kids skate. Big thanks to @TessMo2 @GnarlestonGoods everyone at the HMOA & of the CITY OF HUNTINGTON for being there and letting everyone know how they can help with donating $ for the skatepark. Currently we are raising money for a grant from the TONY HAWK FOUNDATION. Once we raise enough they will be matching our funds that we have raised. The park will be underway soon with the first phase. Here is the edit from that day.

Once the ramps were out everyone was stoked to be on the board and on the asphalt again. Suns back out and everyone is shredding.

The Walter Gropius Master Artist

The Huntington Museum of Art looks forward to welcoming Don Pendleton as a Walter Gropius Master Artist. An exhibit titledParis Signs Presents: Fine Lines: The Artwork of Don Pendleton goes on view at HMA March 8 and continues through June 1, 2014. The artist will speak about his work on April 10, 2014, at 7 p.m. Admission to the April 10 presentation is free. Refreshments will be served.

Don Pendleton will return to HMA for a skateboard demonstration event at 2 p.m. May 17, 2014. Don Pendleton is also presenting a three-day workshop at HMA titled

Fine Lines: The Art of Skateboard Graphics, which will take place from April 11-April 13, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. To register or for workshop fee information, call (304) 529-2701. As skateboards have made their way from the streets into some of the largest museums in the world, the Huntington Museum of Art explores this cultural phenomenon and the fine line between commercial art and fine art with Pendleton's three-day workshop. During the workshop, Pendleton says participants will immerse themselves in the history of skateboard graphics, culture and design and also create their own original piece on a skateboard deck. The workshop will encourage participants to focus on the fundamentals of solid design on the most basic level, using sketchbooks and pens/pencils to explore the ideas of space, balance, contrast, shape and typography.

ROOTS

Its been a long cold winter. Shit is def not over yet. We got one day of 60 degree weather and decided to take it to the streets. We ended up at a couple warm up spots. But finished up with some games of skate and a session at Harris Riverfront Park. This place was a mess.

Alot of people were roaming around down there. All different kinds. Bikers, skateboarders, bums, college students, families, hipsters, and of course online encounters trying to get a fix.

Most of the kids that were carrying around a skateboard were doing just that. Sitting on the three stair smoking cigs and enjoying the freedom that comes with being away from parental supervision.

Why were they not skateboarding?

Why did'nt they join in on a game of skate?

Maybe they were just trying to score some candy.

We were among the few to stay and enjoy what the riverfront had to offer.

Even if it were just for a day, it brought me back to when I was younger and skated 2 miles all the way to downtown just to skate with the older guys that all met up at the spot. Seems like its the last resort at bottom of the city so no one would bother us. Being that young I am surprised I was able to just chill and learn a new trick or two.

Eventually this will be a mecca of adolescent teens trying to find something to skate. Once the park is built it'll turn into a huge deal. But for now it's still like it was when I first started skateboarding. Dingy, dirty, smelly, rough, and weird. I almost would like it to stay this way. But everything changes and everything goes through its phases.

CRUISIN' IN THE COLD

Lusher, Jason Lucas, & I went cruisin' around Huntington last week.

Did'nt have any idea where/what we wanted to skate, just went.

Lucas ended up getting some really good shots of us in our natural habitat.

OCT' - JAN'

It's been a long time since I've posted anything.

Been very busy with work as well as other skateboard projects I've got going on.

The Skatepark for Huntington, WV is going smooth.

Gathering hundreds of dollars in grants and funding is never easy.

Hopefully we will be breaking ground with TEAM PAIN in the next couple of weeks.

Phase one will begin.

During the summer and fall, we will be holding several events.

I will be sure to keep everyone in the loop, if not here then it will be on either facebook/instagram.

New Years was a blast, and seem as if 2014 is going to be a good one.

I working on some short videos, its cold; so bear with me.

LONNIE SHAMBLIN INTERVIEW

I've known "THE SHAM" for a long time now. I can't exactly remember how we met, but I think it was through Ryan McKowen. Couple beers and skate stories later, we were instant homies.

I do know that he has always had as much love for skateboarding as I do. If it were'nt for skateboarding I dont know what he would be doing otherwise.

As a filmer he has been able to meet his legends and new friends all over the world. I'm def envious in his travels, so I try to live my day to day life through his instagram @shambalam .

His first full length video titled "A FOOL'S PARADISE" will be premiering in November, so I caught up with him while on his travels to get some insite on how things were going.

Things are very different here in almost every way. In the states you must obey all traffic laws but here you can pretty much drive however you like.

For example if someone is driving slow you may pass anytime or you may even go driving the wrong way down a one way! This goes for everyone & it works!

Like controlled chaos !....
